About
I’m Ian Loke, a tech generalist based in Singapore with over 10 years bridging the gap between IT and OT. My career has taken me across 8 cities on 4 continents — from commissioning aeroderivative gas turbines, to installing unidirectional security gateways in critical infrastructure, to introducing SCADA platforms across the APAC region.
I currently work at Siemens Digital Industries, where I focus on SCADA solutions, OT cybersecurity, and industrial automation. Before that, I was at Waterfall Security Solutions, where I deployed unidirectional gateways to protect operational technology networks. I’ve also worked on gas turbine control systems, built a USB protocol analyzer for Singapore’s defence R&D, and co-founded a startup in the NUS entrepreneurship ecosystem.
This blog is where I go deep on the things I’m curious about — IT/OT integration, OT cybersecurity, cloud, AI, and whatever hardware I’m currently testing on my bench. I believe the best way to truly understand something is to write about it, and I was inspired to start this by two former colleagues — Risto Haukioja and Roger Binns — whose sustained technical contributions showed me what a career in technology can look like.
When I’m not at work, you’ll find me with a Saleae logic analyzer or an oscilloscope, poking at VFDs, PLCs, or whatever embedded device caught my attention that week.
